Herman Dune is based around the core French duo of David Ivar and Neman who formed the band in 1999. After many years of producing amazing records for DIY and punk labels the band gained wider recognition with the release of their Giant album in 2006. 2010 saw them start their own label and have since been touring their latest record of the same name Strange Moosic.

Theirs is an ever developing sound, but at its heart is a wise, sweet simplicity dealing with the intimacies of life. The gentle European slant in the harmonies disguises a wit and wisdom that takes their songs beyond comparisons to their many heroes, including Bob Dylan, Chuck Berry and Leonard Cohen. 2011 saw them touring with a full backing band, displaying a noisy rock and roll approach to their back catalogue. However, the band has recently been focussing on a stripped back approach. Whatever they produce at Wakefield Theatre Royal for Long Division, it is sure to be something special.
