Family Creative Activities Commission

The 10th June 2023 will be the final Long Division festival in Wakefield. Each year we have been proud to programme a varied selection of family activities available for free on the day of the festival. This year we are looking to commission an artist/collective of artists who will lead an activity at the family activities area of the festival. The family activities area will be a ‘marketplace’ of different activities, we are already delivering badge making, temporary tattoos, colouring in activities and zine making. So we are looking for another creative activity that will suit our current line-up.

What are we offering?

The family activities will run in the Walker Studio at the Theatre Royal Wakefield. The workshop will run from 11:30am – 3:30pm (with additional preparation and clean up time) and participants will create a piece of artwork/item that they are able to take home. The activity should be short (between 10-30 minutes to complete) and the facilitator will need to host multiple participants at one time. In previous years we have run badge making, character painting and musical instrument making etc.

We are particularly interested in commissioning an artist(s) to deliver a workshop which focuses on:

  • A musical theme
  • Recycled and sustainable materials

Delivery:

  • Saturday 10th June at Walker Studio at Theatre Royal Wakefield
  • The workshop will run from 11:30am – 3:30pm (with additional preparation and clean up time, roughly an hour before and hour afterwards)
  • Families, under 12’s must be accompanied by an adult
  • You will have two tables, roughly 6ft each, or equivalent floor space if tables aren’t needed. This will be alongside all the other activities happening in the same space.

Fee:

  • £500 to include artist time, development, materials and transport.
