We make and install neon. We teach and preach neon. We exhibit and publish neon.
Neon Workshops was set up in 2010 by artist Richard Wheater, in his home city of Wakefield, out of frustration that there was nowhere in Europe to learn neon hands-on in a creative environment. In it’s ninth year, Neon Workshops caters specifically for the creative industry, consulting, fabricating, installing, teaching and exhibiting neon, with the hope of inspiring future generations to play with and develop a subject that has heaps of potential!
This specially commissioned piece references the song “I Formed A Band” by Art Brut.
This commission was funded by Long Division with support from Arts Council England as part of our Onto The Streets project, which is directly supporting the creation of new work from predominantly Wakefield based or born artists. The aim is to create accessible experiences that encourage audiences to look at our city in a new way, and animate our streets.
