Matt Abbott: Repeated Subtraction
- Venue: Various
- Day: Wednesday to Sunday (whole festival)
- Times: Daylight hours
Matt Abbott is a Wakefield-born poet, educator and activist. After researching the cultural history of Wakefield city centre, he’s produced a series of short poetic odes to former musical haunts, which will be displayed in empty shop windows. A look back at what we’ve lost, but a glimpse of what we might yet build. Matt starred in the recent national TV ad campaign for Nationwide Building Society, with a poem written about Wakefield city centre.
This commission was funded by Long Division with support from Arts Council England as part of our Onto The Streets project, which is directly supporting the creation of new work from predominantly Wakefield based or born artists. The aim is to create accessible experiences that encourage audiences to look at our city in a new way, and animate our streets.
