Mansion Of Snakes

The Earth shall shake and the serpents will dance, for Mansion of Snakes is here.

Mansion of Snakes is a 12-piece behemoth playing earth-shaking afrobeat, devil-funk and cosmic jazz. Fronted by blazing horns and backed by pounding percussion and guitars, the band fuses the influences of Nigerian afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti with the spirit of Pharoah Sanders, Funkadelic and a punk energy.

In March 2017 the band released their eponymous EP into the wild, followed by a season of incendiary festival shows at Shambala, Greenman Festival, Kendal Calling, Beatherder, Solfest and Smugglers Festival and gigs including Hootananny Brixton and The Magic Garden in London, The Jam Jar and The Canteen in Bristol, The Wardrobe and The Brudenell Social Club in Leeds and Abbeydale Picture House in Sheffield.

Searing horns and afro-funk bass conjure up a police chase from Lagos to Brazil on new single Mating Season, as guitar solos duel with furious percussion. Released on 7” vinyl in April 2018 on the Come Play With Me label, the track has had repeated plays on BBC 6 Music and BBC Introducing.

Mansion of Snakes are now in the studio honing razor sharp riffs and politically slanted lyrics for a new album and a new season of gigs, following the well-trodden path of afrobeat, jazz and punk as protest music.
Ignore the Zodiac Calendar. This is the Year of the Snake.
