Friday June 1st
A brand new spin on our traditional opening night of the festival.
Our headline ticketed event will take place at Wakefield Town Hall. “Write Place, Write Time” will feature conversations with musician and activist Billy Bragg and Journalist Laura Snapes, about the creative writing process and how we can use words to document and reflect our lives. Hosted by Chris Madden (Chinwag – Leeds) this will be an informal evening of insight and anecdotes.
This year we are committed to offering accessible free events, so our second Friday night show is being hosted by For The Love Of The Game, infamous for promoting amazing shows in the city, most memorably at the now departed Jockey. Their shows brought Punk and Hardcore bands from across the UK to play with local bands such as Pylon and The Cribs.
Both shows are raising money for the charity MAP, with the Red Shed show being Pay What You Feel.
