Team Long Division

Long Division CIC is governed by a group of people who live and / or grew up in Wakefield and are committed to its cultural betterment. They are:

Dean Freeman

Founder and Festival Director of Long Division Festival. Editor of Rhubarb Bomb fanzine 2009-2015.

Paul Bateson

Paul is an experienced Teacher, Writer and Theatre-maker, notably as head of Taproom Theatre Company and founder of Immersive Theatre Collective Cuckoo’s Egg. He is a long term supporter of Long Division, having also performed with his band The Passing Fancy and co-funding the publication of a book of scripts by local writers with the festival.

Adam Hayward

Adam is a Motion and Graphic Designer, releasing his own work as CopyPasteRepeat. He worked on Rhubarb Bomb fanzine for a number of years and was the first visual designer for Long Division in 2011. He returns now overseeing our new visual and brand direction.

Amy Lilley

Amy co-runs WE ARE / Crux in Wakefield (the latter also home to the city’s record label, Philophobia Music) and is also heavily involved in the delivery of Wakefield’s long running bi-monthly Artwalk. All these ventures seek to find creative ways to support and offer exposure to artists of all kinds.

Ruth Offord

Ruth has worked with Long Division for many years, supporting our press and logistical work. She works in arts marketing, most recently for Sheffield Theatres.

Ash Scott

Ash is a film-maker, releasing his work as Skysail Studios, whilst also developing his bespoke wedding film business To Have To Hold Films. Ash has produced all Long Division’s films since 2014, including our official films, the live sessions, documentaries, Crowdfunder films and the ambitious Live Album Recordings.

Laura Thompson

Laura is an Artist and Illustrator who releases work as Laura Alice and is a musician with Fur Blend. Laura’s work has appeared in various places across Long Division over the years and she has also produced album artwork for many of Wakefield’s bands.

Andrew Whittaker

Andy has supported Long Division since the very beginning, performing with Red Riding Quartet and One Day, After School and assisting the promotion of the festival. An experienced performer and journalist, Andy has played across Europe and brings a deep musical knowledge to the team.
